Low-Volume Production via Rapid Injection Molding
Because only a few hundred parts were needed each year, 3M®came to VistaTek for Aluminum Tooling. All four plastic parts were designed, programmed, machined and shot from the same 1+1+1+1 family tool.
By combining all the parts together in the same tool(mold), lead-time and costs were reduced. Because different materials were shot for each different component, runner shut-offs were used to separate each cavity.
