The Fuel Cell
This project is a good illustration of the fact that there is never an easy or a cheap way to prototype larger parts. SLA patterns were used to make the RTV molds. 80 Shore D urethane was cast to create a functional part. When the parts were assembled, the lock was not durable enough, and it broke during testing. In just two weeks, a rapid tool with a hand pick-out was made to provide a functional prototype. The yellow lock was made from a POM (acetal). It held up well. |
