Creating FDM plastic prototyping models for form, fit and functional testing.

Fused deposition modeling (FDM) creates plastic prototyping models and production parts by extruding layers of plastic out of high-performance engineering materials such as ABS plastic, polycarbonate (PC), medical grade Class VI polycarbonate and polyphenylsulfone (PPSF). This is also known as 3-D printing or additive manufacturing.

The mechanical properties of these high-performance engineering plastic prototyping materials allow VistaTek to produce models that can be assembled, tested, even used as production parts for our customers. This is called Direct Digital Manufacturing (DDM) or Additive Manufacturing (AM).

At VistaTek, we have also found a great use for FDM parts be used as fixtures for postmold operations in Injection Molding.
